Scrub-a-dub in the rain!

Just now a huge rainstorm came up. It was my chance to give the fids a shower that they will actually ENJOY. :p So I stuffed them all into their bath cage and set it outside.

Shakes at first HATED it. He just stood in one corner with his feathers sleek on his body, and he had this sort of "I hate you" look on his face.:stare: Then...... Just like my brother....he decided that he actually liked it! he then started opening his wings, fluffing his feathers, and sticking his head under his wings as if he didn't want his "hair" ruined.

After his shower he looked so beautiful with all those little raindrops on his feathers. As I hurried to get the camera to snap a pic, he snaked himself and ruined the perfect picture.*smacks forehead* So sorry, no pictures. Funny thing was, his tail got all messed up from the tiny cage! It's like he had a "bush" at the end of his tail.

End of story! Now he is in his nice warm cage preening himself.

I've never taking my birds out in a rain storm. That's smart! I either bring my tiels in the shower with me (which is a pain because I have to cover the mirror so they don't run into it and then keep birds from flying on my head while I'm shampooing) or spray them with a spray bottle (which is also a pain because they ask for more and more until all the cages, walls, and carpets are soaking for the next 24 hours).

Actually, rain and the hose is my ONLY way of them getting a proper and non-stressful shower. Once a month I give them a hated bath to properly wash them and get their feathers beautiful and soft. I sometimes take my birds into the shower, but they HATE it. They don't know that it's the same as a rain storm!

My birds love the shower more than anything else but sometimes bath in dishes or like to be sprayed.

Such different personalities!

Yep! And people think all birds are the same....

I hate that!
